Wednesday's public meeting was well-attended, with about two dozen citizens taking part despite the frigid weather. Pam Lucenkiw of OURS-Winnipeg made an excellent presentation, and there was a general discussion about sharing of resources between our groups.
For the meantime, we will continue to collect signatures and will make downloadable documents available shortly that can be printed by community members to circulate in their neighborhoods.
We will also form an ad hoc committee of several groups members to meet with City councillors to discuss preservation of Canoe Club GC as a greenspace in our community.
January 11, 2012
We'll be holding a second meeting of the St. Vital Greenspace group:
Wednesday, January 18th
Norberry-Glenlee Community Centre multi-purpose room
26 Molgat Avenue
We will email everyone on the mailing list an agenda before the meeting, and we hope to have a brief presentation by Outdoor Urban Recreational Spaces (OURS), a group that has taken saving the greenspaces at our municipal golf courses city-wide. Attendees will also have an opportunity to sign OURS' petition to the city.
We will also bring people up to speed regarding our submitted petition to the city, and discuss next steps.
See you there!
